Hello everyone! I’m so happy to be joining Dakine Knits. If you haven’t read already Melissa and I are best friends, and live just around the corner from each other. We literally sit around knitting your items and talking about gorgeous yarn for hours on end, and we both love it…. so it’s a match made in Heaven. I’m so excited to see what this partnership will bring to this new year, and I’m uber excited for the awesome things that we’ll be stocking on our new Hyena Cart coming in March. You guys are going to love it!
Melissa your longies fiiiinallly finished drying, and shipped out today. It’s been raining here just about non stop for the last 2 weeks, which makes the air so damp and moist that nothing is drying. It’s taking twice as long. We do have a little bit of sunshine today though, thank you Lord! Our kids were starting to make us both a little looney with their pent up energy. I think we took care of that today.

MayLily’s longies are almost done! I just have one more cuff to do and then of course the long process of weaving in all the ends. I think they turned out wonderful! I plan on getting them started blocking by tomorrow afternoon and possibly they might be dry enough to ship on Saturday.
After this project I am going to knit up some capris really quick for A La Mode’s stocking on Feb 4th.

So I don’t know if anyone has clicked around the site lately but we have added and changed some things.
I have officially added 2 more knitters under the Dakine Knits label-Nicole (my BFF) and Beth (my mama <3 ). My mom has done a couple collabs with me on A La Mode and Nicole has been doing YYMN slots for a while now, in addition to knitting for her own kids. You can learn all about us, in the About section at the top. We have our very own hyencart purchased and under construction and we are brainstorming some amazing idea’s for our grand opening, so stay tuned.
Also, if you are a military family, please email one of us for a discount code. We love our armed troops and would like to show our appreciate.
Knitting update: everything shipped if you purchased something from Mode over the weekend. Also, Linda’s teeny tiny newborn longies went out as well.
I am busily working on MayLily’s large scrappies, I have about 80% of the rise done, but forgot to snap a picture during the little daylight we had today. I will try and get one tomorrow afternoon after bible study. They are knitting along nicely and hope to get them done by the end of the week.

Linda’s longies are currently blocking, hoping to ship Monday. I have the first hat 1/2 way done and hope to breeze through both by the end of the day and get started on MayLily’s scrappies.
We just got back from a birthday party and are heading off to go get stuff for our new puppy! We are getting a anatolian great pyrenees mix pup on Feb 7th! I can’t wait. I have always had a dog while growing up but the last 7 years of marriage we haven’t lived anywhere that allowed pets.

Yay! This pair is breezing through. I am actually about 2 inches from the cuff on the 2nd leg, so these will be finished up tomorrow, I will do the cords for both and get the ends woven in and then I will block them. I should be able to squeak out the matching hats tomorrow as well so everything should be ready to ship on Monday!!!
I am also hoping to start MayLily’s tomorrow as well. We will see how tired I am, my husband works 18 hours on fridays right now, so it means I do all of the kid duty myself.

We have some new and exciting things happening at DaKine Knits. I am not saying anything yet, but it should be good for business.
Knitting update: Starting in on Linda’s second pair, almost have the waist band done already.

Well I got the purple longies done, there is still pooling in the legs even with the alternating skeins
I will take pics of them tomorrow before I do the finishing touches. I have never had a colorway give me such a hard time. *sigh* Luckily the colors are beautiful and girly and the yarn is soft and squishy and should be great for a newborn.
I should be able to cast on the next pair sometime tomorrow, praying that it goes much faster so that I can get Maylily’s started by the weekend.
I have some items stocking on Thursday at A La Mode, I have a special guest knitter that made up a pair of newborn boy scrappies for me using my pattern. I also knit up a new style of hat, its much girlier then most of the other styles I have done, which is great for my own girls. The beautiful Katarina is my model for this, however she had no desire to keep it since its not pink. LOL gotta love 2 year olds.
My husband’s grandmother seems to have rebounded some, but its just a matter of time. Your continued prayers for our family, particularly my MIL, through this stressful time is much appreciated. Its hard trying to balance our lives and spend as much time with her at the same time.

Ok, got the rise re-done with the alternating skeins and it looks much better. I am working on the first leg now. I only have a little more knitting time before I am going to be busy for the evening. My hubby is home tomorrow but we probably will be spending most of the day visiting with his dying grandma and the family that has come into town to say goodbye. My goal is to try and wrap this pair up by Tuesday, but we will see, its taking longer with the alternating then I am used to.

I got the NB purple set frogged but then was gone all evening with my family. Since I am going to be using a new technique to avoid pooling it will be a little slower going and I will have to wait until I can really focus so that I dont get messed all up and forget where I am at. LOL
Tomorrow we will be at the hospital most of the day, spending time with Grandma and all the family that has come in to say goodbye. Thankfully, she is so peaceful and seems more at rest then she has in years.
So in the meantime, I am knitting stuff for the store-stocking on January 21st!!! Be there or be square

We just got a call less then an hour ago that Ben’s grandmother might not make it though the night. Her heart valve is failing. Prayers are always appreciated. I will be checking email so that is the best form of communication over the forum pm’s at this time.
Will update when we have more info. I have Linda’s purple longies with me and will probably have time to work on them while we wait at the hospital, but you never know.
